Added
- A Horizontal scroll block style for the Columns block. The columns sit
three across and any extra columns scroll sideways inside the block instead
of wrapping onto new rows; three or fewer stretch to fill the row. When
columns are off screen, the side with more to show fades out and previous
and next buttons appear above the row. Phones show one column with the next
peeking in.
--rc-scroll-columns,--rc-scroll-gap,--rc-scroll-column-minand--rc-scroll-fadeadjust it. - A notice tells administrators when a changelog template saved in the Site
Editor no longer matches the plugin’s current template, for example because
it was saved before a layout fix or still uses a retired block. The notice
links to the template in the Site Editor and offers “Reset to plugin
default”, which moves the saved copy to the trash so it can be restored.
wp release-changelog templates statusandtemplates resetdo the same from the command line. On themes without header and footer template parts, such as Etch builds, a template that is only the site’s header and footer around a reference to the plugin’s layout pattern counts as current.
Changed
- The Release Board shows three product lanes across; more products scroll sideways with the Horizontal scroll style instead of wrapping into rows.
- The plugin now takes its look from the theme instead of imposing its own. Fonts, headings, buttons and text sizes come from the theme; the plugin keeps only relative steps, so meta text and badges stay smaller than body text. Colours come from the theme’s Base and Contrast colours rather than the browser’s system colours, which rendered white cards and black text on dark themes. Cards are square, unshadowed and border-only by default. These defaults reach templates already saved in the Site Editor too, because they read the same style values.
- Built-in patterns no longer bake fonts, text sizes, colours, borders, shadows or padding into the blocks they insert. Those were saved as inline styles that a theme could not override.
- Layouts follow the theme’s widths. Registered templates wrap their layout in the theme’s constrained main area, so multi-column layouts (the board, filterable archives, timeline, reading rail and sidebar single) stop at the theme’s wide size, single-column layouts use its content width, and layout patterns keep those widths on a page, in a Query Loop or at the root of a template. Layouts placed in a narrow column stack instead of squeezing.
- On a theme with a dark Base colour, the built-in change-type colours switch to lighter variants that stay readable. Colours you pick yourself are never changed.
- Version numbers stay monospace by default through the plugin’s font setting, and a font family chosen on the Release Meta block takes precedence.
- Pages load faster and run fewer database queries. Changelog archives, the Release Board and filterable pages use roughly half the queries they did, and pages without changelog content, REST requests and admin screens no longer pay for the plugin’s work.
- Year and count filters are complete for any number of releases; they were previously limited to the newest 500.
- Filter bars no longer draw a grey panel with a grey button track and a grey selected option inside it. The selected option uses the theme’s contrast colour, and the controls line up with the rest of the layout.
Removed
- The plugin no longer hides Easy Digital Downloads prices that have an EDD PowerPack role restriction. That rule was written for one store and hid legitimate role-restricted prices, such as a wholesale tier, on any other store running the plugin. A store that relied on it needs the rule in its own site code.
Fixed
- The download button stopped using the release_changelog/release_cta_url and release_cta_label filters in 1.14, so a release linked to an Easy Digital Downloads product sent visitors to the repository’s update URL instead of the product page. Both filters apply again.
- Single-release templates saved in the Site Editor before 1.14 lost their release header: the editor reported that the site “doesn’t include support for the release-changelog/release-header block”, and the product, version and download link were missing from the page. The block is registered again as a legacy block. It renders the same header new layouts use and stays out of the block inserter.
- Content saved before 1.7 with the Release Resources block showed the same “doesn’t include support” notice and lost its previous-release, next-release and source links. It is registered again as a legacy block too.
- The block editor never loaded the release Query Loop variation, the release value format button or the group variations. They are available again.
- Blocks placed in a template part, widget area or page-builder template could load without the plugin’s style values, which broke their spacing and layout.
- Release notes beside a sidebar sat centred in their column, off the header’s left edge. They now keep a readable width on that edge.
- Cards that shortened release notes to a few items could end on a group heading such as “Fixed” with an empty list under it. Headings whose items were all cut are now dropped with them.
- Archive heroes had an inset on the left edge, so the title sat out of line with the page heading, the filter rail and the results.
- The Release Board’s year filter now sits at the far edge of the hero instead of beside the title.
- Recent Releases cards no longer slide the date under the product badge or overflow the screen on phones, and in a narrow sidebar the date drops below a long product name instead of breaking the name mid-word.
- The stacked release header keeps its version and download button on the text’s left edge on phones instead of centring them.
- The reading rail is wide enough for a long product name, and its badges keep their natural width.
- The compact log no longer wraps its dates.
- “Clear filters” in a vertical filter column lines up with the filters.
- Timeline cards no longer double the space between their rows where the layout did not reset the rows’ own margins, as on a plain page.
- The standalone timeline’s two-sided layout now follows the width of its column, not the screen, so it stays single-sided in a narrow content area.
- Filter dropdowns showed black text on dark themes.
